About the 24 Hour Run

Picture
Since 1994, Highland Park High school has devoted the entire month of February to raising money for a charity nominated and voted upon by the students. This year, the students of Highland Park High School, have chosen the Saving Tiny Hearts Society.  The Saving tiny Hearts Society’s mission is to raise money for grossly under-funded, lifesaving grass roots research of congenital heart defects (CHD's).  This seed funding acts as a bridge for this research to millions of dollars of extramural funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH) or other outside funding. CHD's are America’s #1 birth defect affecting over 40,000 babies every year!

Each year, the Highland Park High School Boy’s and Girls Track Teams combine their efforts to raise as much money as possible to contribute to Charity Drive. The 24 Hour Run is a 24-hour relay race in which members of the track team take turns running 1 mile at a time.  The event takes place on HPHS’s indoor track for 24 hours starting at 4:00 pm on February 4th and concluding at 4:00 pm on February 5th.  After only 5 years, the 24 Hour Run has raised in excess of $100,000.  Our goal is to cover over 200 miles during the 24 hours of the relay and raise over $25,000.

We ask that you become an honorary member of the HPHS Track Team by making a contribution to this cause.  Any amount that you contribute will help.    Donations can be made on a per-mile basis or simply a dollar contribution.  Checks can be made payable to; Highland Park High School.  The Highland Park High School Boys and Girls Track Teams, Highland Park High School, and most importantly those affected by this condition are infinitely grateful for your generosity.
